About Roots & Shoots
In Nepal, Roots & Shoots started in 2006 and has been active in schools as an eco club through which many campaigns and programs have been run by the school students.
When, What, Why is
Roots and Shoots?
The club started as a response to the questions raised by young students of a school in a Tanzanian Village in the year 1990. Started by young people to address and resolve the issues they see in their locality, this program aims to encourage young people to question the usual relationship between nature and us, and also encourage them to change that dynamic for the better.

Creating a healthier environment for all requires everyone's effort and most importantly, information regarding the environment to be worked with. This program empowers the young through information. Knowing the ins and outs of how our local ecologies work, and how they are governed or managed helps in understanding how to make it better for animals, plants, and us, humans.
